Privacy Policy
Pastery is a clipboard manager. The core promise is simple: your clipboard history stays on your Mac and is never transmitted anywhere. This page describes what usage data we collect to improve the app and how to opt out.
Clipboard content is never sent anywhere. Not to us, not to any third party. It lives in a local SQLite database on your Mac and is deleted according to your configured retention period.
What Pastery collects
Pastery sends anonymous product analytics events to help us understand how the app is used and improve it. Events include things like opening the clipboard overlay, pasting an item, searching, opening overview mode, starting or completing a trial, and activating a license. Each event may include coarse metadata such as app version, macOS version, and license status (trial, licensed, etc.).
To measure retention and funnels over time, Pastery assigns a random anonymous identifier to your installation. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, license key, or clipboard content.
What Pastery does not collect
- Clipboard content — text, images, files, URLs, colors
- Your name, email address, or license key
- Which apps you copy from or paste into
- Search queries or filenames
- Keystrokes or screen content
How events are stored
Events are sent to Mixpanel, a product analytics service. We use Mixpanel's EU data residency option, meaning event data is stored and processed in the European Union. Mixpanel acts as our data processor under a Data Processing Agreement and Standard Contractual Clauses.
We do not sell analytics data.
How to opt out
If you would like to opt out of analytics, contact us at hello@pasteryapp.com and we will disable collection. No clipboard content is ever collected regardless of this setting.
Data retention
Event data is retained in Mixpanel for up to 24 months, after which it is automatically deleted according to Mixpanel's retention settings.
Legal basis (GDPR)
We operate under legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The data collected is limited to pseudonymous product usage events with no clipboard content attached. You retain the right to opt out at any time as described above, and the right to object to processing by contacting us.
Flinge ApS is registered in Denmark and subject to Danish and EU data protection law.
